What holds Europe together? Based on this guiding question, the Hamburg-Vigoni Forum aims to bring together research, politics, and society to discuss the future of Europe. The University of Hamburg is organizing the forum as one of its international strategy conferences in cooperation with the Europa-Kolleg Hamburg, the Institute for Peace Research and Security Policy (IFSH), and the German-Italian Centre for European Dialogue Villa Vigoni.
In the first "Hamburg Speech on the Future of Europe", the Latvian President and alumnus of the University of Hamburg, H.E. Egils Levits, will speak about the future of Europe as a community of law and values. The aim is to contextualize Europe's strategic sovereignty in the shadow of the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine and with regard to the resulting turning point in European politics.
In a subsequent panel discussion, these impulses will be taken up and reflected upon together with the Ukrainian Ambassador, H.E. Oleksiy Makeyev, based on the question of what holds the European Union together in the face of national and international crises.
We would be delighted if you could save the date and we could welcome you on 28 April. The final invitation with a registration link will be sent to you after the Easter holidays.
The event will be held in German.
We look forward to your participation!
